Having desire of being a Lawyer as his Profession is now materialized, with strong commitment, working capital, expertise and opportunities, he is now following his footsteps towards his career as a Lawyer and also owner of one of lawyer consultant in Jakarta.

Like sky above the sky, is how Rahmat Bastian describe the glamorous life of being a lawyer. As Litigator (that often goes to court) and Corporate Lawyer, is quite understand by this young lawyer. Profession as a lawyer, consider as representing clients on both sides meaning not making any differences out of clients.

From his social intercourse, related to bankers has influenced his work specialties especially in corporate banking, finance, taxes, and debt restructuring.
His curiosity made him like collecting books. Now he has collected 22.000 titles, 90 journals and around 100 publishing.

His interest towards new things has made Rahmat invest his money in stocks exchange. And to know details about involving in stock exchange, foreign currency or mutual fund as also world of stock exchange, made him join the investment manager course in year 1999, even he also have participated in the exam," explained Rahmat who, lately had invest his money in unit link.

To have a big salary during young age. As to this young lawyer, born in May 9, 1974, building career in his young age was not an easy thing . While studying in University of Indonesia, year 1996, Rahmat started his career in Todung Mulya Lubis(TML) Law Firm. After 3 months in TML, Rahmat apprentice in one well known law firm Hadinoto Hadiputranto & Partners and Dewi Soeharto Law Firm. After graduated he applied in Dermawan Nugroho & Co (DNC) known as a one that “tough” law firm.

Rahmat has succeeded to set aside other applicants. In DNC Rahmat starts to develop himself as a well competent lawyer. And as a lawyer (1997) he was paid US$ 1000 which means he receives12 million Rupiah monthly.

After several years in DNC, In Februari 2003 he receives his salary up to US$ 3000 monthly, Afterwards Rahmat decided to resign from DNC and with his colleagues Satrya Wijaya Teja, established BT Partnership Law Firm with capital of 500 million and office located in Sudirman Square (BRI building).

Although occupied with works, Rahmat still cannot leave his activities, as having discussion or chit chat with colleagues related to his works such as bankers and his colleagues from insurance. For it he is also active as a member of lawyers association in Asia Pacific known as IPBA. Even Rahmat also received a scholarship from this association. From his activities Rahmat had an opportunity to do a presentation in India, representing Indonesia about bankruptcy.

Talking about fee, Rahmat who has handle lots of oversees corporate has set his fee standards with dollar currency because of the office building cost which also paid in dollar where most of his clients were also paid in dollars. Most 60% of his clients are from oversees. He explained, from his litigation fee he is usually paid 25%-50% in advance, and for restructuring can be till US$ 150.000.

His everyday lifestyle, single man who leaves in one of those sudirman square apartments, bought with price of 400 million, does not run a glamorous life.
Collector of cars miniatures total almost 250 pieces and box offices movies, even choosed to drive Kijang as part of his daily routine. And as in weekend he chooses to drive Mercedes C-Class. Even Mercedes S-Class has also become his choice. To collect his miniature cars, Rahmat even flew to Switzerland, Hong Kong, even Italy. “Collection of his miniature is also useful to expand my imagination,” explained Rahmat.

To fill his spare time, sometimes he goes watching in MPX rande, and Planet Hollywood twice a week, or go out clubbing to cafes.
